New Photo Released From The Set of Batman v. Superman

By: Bailey Casello

A photo has been released today of how Clark Kent (played by Henry Cavill) will look in his reporter get up...

Now if you all remember at the end of Man of Steel he was rocking some plaid, the big glasses, and the curly hair (ladies contain yourselves).
They will never suspect I'm Superman with these glasses on!

Let's just say they improved, but... um... don't you think it will be a bit obvious as to who he really is?
Hubba hubba
They grow up so fast, don't they? Moving along, Cinema Blend shared the picture and in their article mentioned.... Lex Luthor and the Justice League! The more I see about this movie the more pumped I get. Here's hoping for something good, and don't forget to check back to The Sonic Saber for more updates.

First look at Henry Cavill in the Superman suit. Picture provided by followingthenerd.

Still looking good.

Disney Releases 'Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars' Premiere Trailer

By Dave Bouressa

Since the announcement at San Diego Comic Con last year, fans of the hit series Phineas and Ferb have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Star Wars cross-over episode, which only gave an official release date a few weeks ago.

Check out the trailer below:

Unlike many specials that take their own characters and put them in the shoes of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, etc, the Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars special will be taking a side-story, put their own characters in the events of Star Wars: A New Hope as the events of the film are happening around them.

"Dan and Swampy have put their unique spin on the iconic events in A New Hope, and have created fun ways for the characters to interact within the Star Wars universe," said Eric Coleman, senior vp original series at Disney Television Animation. -Hollywood Reporter

Check out some of the amazing concept work for the upcoming special.

A preview of the special will be available through the Disney Channel WATCH app on July 19th, and the episode will re-air on August 4th as a Star Wars themed time block leading to an extended sneak peak of Star Wars Rebels.

Be sure to catch Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars on July 26th on Disney.

Paramount Releases New 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Trailer

By Dave Bouressa

In a massive marketting campaign, Paramount Pictures has released new posters for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, revealing one at a time based on twitter voting, followed by what can only be described as the trailer we were meant to see from the beginning.

Unlike the original trailer, this actually makes the film not only seem watchable, but actually something to look forward too. We get a good look at the turtles faces, who (aside from Michelangelo) actually don't look that bad, we get a glimpse at Master Splinter, we see Shredder in full force, and most importantly, we see a movie that doesn't look a Transformers movie with turtles-it genuinely looks like an entertaining Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story.

What makes this trailer all the better is the jab at the whole "alien origin" subplot that Bay had mentioned in the early development of the film with massive fan backlash. Also, Whoopi Goldberg? What?

Check out the amazing posters of each turtle!

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comes out August 8th, 2014, and will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, produced by Michael Bay, and stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Will Arnet and Whoopi Goldberg.

'Star Wars: Rebels' Series to Premiere September 30th?

By Dave Bouressa

Star Wars: Rebels, the new television series from Lucasfilm is coming to Disney later this fall, but details about the actual release have been very quiet, so nobody has known exactly when the new series would be hitting our screens-until now!

A picture via twitter user Tatooinebreeze seems to have given us our first look.

Keep in mind, TV listings have been wrong before-in fact, quite a bit of the time, but any news regarding the series is a good one. Even if this is incorrect, chances are that Lucasfilm will have to make a statement about it one way or the other, giving us either confirmation of this date or some kind of clue to the actual date.

Be sure to check out the trailer for Star Wars Rebels.

Star Wars Rebels premieres with an hour long special on Disney Channel, followed by the series on Disney XD.

Rian Johnson to Write and Direct Star Wars Episodes Eight and Nine

By Dave Bouressa

According to a report from, writer/director Rian Johnson is in talks with Lucasfilm to take the helm of that galaxy far, far away after J.J. Abrams has his way with it for Episode VII.

Johnson will take over the core film franchise, and he’ll get started quickly and this will be his preoccupation for quite awhile. Joining him as producer will be Ram Bergman. Johnson made his directing debut on the respected indie Brick, and then jumped to mainstream science fiction by writing and directing Looper, an inventive time travel thriller that starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. Bergman produced both of those films. It would be hard to imagine Johnson taking on a higher profile challenge than two consecutive Star Wars films. I’ll tell you more when I know it. Johnson is repped by CAA.

As Star Wars rumors tend to do, this has spread like wildfire, and until Lucasfilm puts out an official announcement, this must be taken with a large grain of salt. Johnson has previously directed The Brothers BloomLooper, and several episodes of the hit AMC series Breaking Bad.

If this turns out to be true, Johnson will be joining the handful of directors tasked with taking the future of the Star Wars universe to the big screen including J.J. Abrams for Episode VII, along with Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank, each of whom will be director seperate stand-alone films.

Marvel Releases New "Guardians of the Galaxy" International Trailer

By Dave Bouressa

Marvel Studios has just put out a brand new trailer for its upcoming flick Guardians of the Galaxy and take a look.

Personally, this trailer feels severely underwhelming. With its previous trailers as a comparison, it went from being something new and unreal and something nobody's seen before to a cliche "We're a bunch of outcasts, but the galaxy is in trouble, so we need to put our differences aside and save everybody and have some quirky moments along the way" trailer that we've seen a million times in just about every other summer movie-in fact, while reading that description, replace "galaxy" with "world" and you have the synopsis for The Avengers.

And given the very close release date, it is assumed that this will be the last full trailer for the film, and that is disappointing. It is similar to ending a pre-game on a bad note. Hopefully this underwhelming cliche trailer does not hinder the audience attendance, because this will certainly be a movie to see.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits the UK and Ireland on July 31st followed by a US release of August 1st.

WATCH: Star Trek Continues Ep.03: The Fairest of Them All

By Dave Bouressa

The team behind Star Trek Continues, a continuation of the five-year voyage of the USS Enterprise (that only made it three years on television), has come out with its latest installment in the series.

"Mirror Mirror" is a classic (and possibly the most well-known fan-favorite) episode for Star Trek fans for generations-introducting the Mirror Universe, where instead of a Galactic Federation of Planets, the galaxy trembles under the might of the Terran Empire. A transporter accident switches Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, and Uhura with their mirror universe evil counterparts and vice versa.

The episode ends with the four crew members (along with their counterparts) returning to their respective universe. But before the Kirk we know leaves, he gives Spock some words about changing the future ways of the Empire for the better, followed by their safe return on board the USS Enterprise-leaving Star Trek fans wondering, "Well, what happened once the evil crew returned?"

Almost 50 years later, that question is finally being answered.

Picking up exactly where "Mirror Mirror" ended, check out the next exciting adventure of Star Trek Continues: The Fairest of Them All.

Be sure to check out Episode 1 "Pilgrim of Eternity" and Episode 2 "Lolani" at the Star Trek Continues Vimeo Page.

Jason Momoa Cast As Aquaman in Batman VS Superman and Justice League

By Dave Bouressa

DC and Warner Brothers have made it no secret that Justice League is on their mind. Having cast the new Batman, and Wonder Woman, it is to be expected that we would be hearing reveals for the rest of the League in due time.

According to a report from Hitflix, Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa has been officially cast as Aquaman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, after quite some time floating in the "rumor pool".

Someone else who's not particularly happy about what happened in [Man of Steel] is Aquaman. I'm not sure if that's the actual name they'll use or not, but what we're hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once Snyder gets to Justice League.

At this time, Warner Brothers has not confirmed anything, and Momoa has been brushing off rumors for the past year or so. At Bucharest Comic-Con, he had this to say.

“I know, Aquaman! I couldn’t even be more random for Aquaman, you know, with the blonde hair… I don’t even know where that comes from – it’s like me being… uh… Robin or something. Who pulls that out? I see that on the internet and I’m like, Aquaman? A guy like… Lobo I could see.“

It also raises the question on how Aquaman will be portrayed. Aquaman over the years has had two very distinct styles, one being a short-haired, clean-cut "Captain America of the seas", and the other being a bearded, long-haired, rugged, harpoon-for-an-arm manly-man worthy to be called King of Atlantis, and given Momoa's previous well-known role as Game of Thrones Drogo, the latter will probably be more fitting to his physicality.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out May 6, 2016 and will be directed by Zack Snyder.

'Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars' Special Premiere Date Revealed

By Dave Bouressa

Disney is taking full advantage of its ownership of the Star Wars franchise by combining it with its hit animated series, Phineas and Ferb.

The special was announced earlier this year at San Diego Comic Con, but only now has an official release date been revealed, with the special airing on Saturday, July 26th at 9pm EST.

Unlike previous Star Wars parodies such as the Family Guy Star Wars parodies, the characters of Phineas and Ferb will not be portraying characters such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, etc. Instead, they will be playing roles that will be interacting within the universe of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Check out some of the concept designs for the upcoming special.

Included in the special will be show-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, along with the voice talent of Simon Pegg as C3PO, and Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters fame, staring as members of the Empire.

"Dan and Swampy have put their unique spin on the iconic events in A New Hope, and have created fun ways for the characters to interact within the Star Wars universe," said Eric Coleman, senior vp original series at Disney Television Animation. -Hollywood Reporter

EA E3 2014 Press Conference Recap and Highlights

By Dave Bouressa

This year, EA had to step it up after the whole "Battlefield 4" debacle and being named the worst gaming company in the world. However, much like Microsoft before it, EA came in presented itself well, and it certainly didn't hurt that they came out right off the bat with what everybody's been wanting to see-Star Wars Battlefront.

Then on the actual press conference...

Star Wars Battlefront:

Dragon Age: Inquisition

The Sims

EA Sports: UFC

EA Sports NHL 15

PGA Tour

Madden 15

Mirror's Edge 2

Battlefield Hardline

Aside from the big buzz regarding Star Wars Battlefront and a very brief mention of an upcoming Mass Effect game, the conference itself was done well, but when half of your repertoire is sports games, it is very difficult to walk away and not have it be underwhelming. Stick around for the upcoming Sony conference.

Be sure to check out the rest of our incredible coverage from E3 here.

E3 2014 Star Wars: Battlefront Teaser

By Dave Bouressa

EA decided to kick off this years E3 by addressing the elephant in the room. Everyone wants Star Wars news and trailers-particularly with Star Wars Battlefront. With that, EU decided to start off their press conference with a teaser for Battlefront, showing them going to the filming locations and some very short clips, showing that the game, if anything, looks incredible physically.

Hopefully this is not all we see of the upcoming franchise until spring of next year, but at least EA is taking the initiative to at least show us something.

Xbox One E3 2014 Press Conference Recap and Highlights

By Dave Bouressa

Last year, Microsoft's press conference was less than favorable by gamers, due to the Xbox One's original set-up, such as the "no used games" feature, and the "must always be online" feature. Microsoft seemed very defensive and back-tracked alot, but this year, Microsft just came in, threw its upcoming games at us, and walked away with a smile on its face and gamers excited.

Check out the game trailers from the Microsoft Press Conference...

And Microsoft wrapped it up all nicely with this...

In short, a focused, confident, and successful press conference that blows last years out of the water. Can Sony step up the plate and out-shine its competitor? Stay tuned and find out.

E3 2014: Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo 5: Guardians Beta

By Dave Bouressa

Just revealed at E3 was Microsoft saying the ultimate thank you to the franchise that kept it alive and well, with Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Included all on one disc will be Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 will be repackaged into a high definition remastered form on Xbox One prior to the released of Halo 5: Guardians, which is scheduled to release in 2015. The involvement of Halo ODST and Halo Reach has not been officially stated, but these games were not included in the line-up, so it is safe to assume they will not be included.

Following with the 10 year anniversary of Halo 2, Halo 2 Anniversary will follow in the footsteps of Halo: Combat Evolved and include the ability to switch from next-gen graphics to the original graphics of ten years with the touch of a button.

Six Halo 2 maps have been included to the multiplayer, and multiplayer servers have been said to follow that of the original game, which at the time had the most innovative multiplayer server system, resulting in what most games have today.

Also included in the collection will be the Halo 5: Guardians beta and Halo Nightfall-a digital series leading into the events of Halo 5.

Stay tuned for more upcoming news regarding the Halo franchise.

George Lucas Couldn't Care Less About Leaked Star Wars Episode VII Pictures

By Dave Bouressa

George Lucas, the creator of the world-wide famous Star Wars franchise, retired from film-making last year and gave the CEO position of his company to Kathleen Kennedy, and seems to be taking retirement..."well".

In a recently released video from TMZ, a heckler asks Lucas about the upcoming films and the recent "leaked" pictures from the sets, and Lucas can only shrug and say "Oh well, I'm retired".

On one hand, this could just be Lucas just brushing off a heckler to get in his car, but Lucas seems to taking retirement by the balls and laughing because this "Star Wars stuff" is everybody's else's problem now. Lately, Lucas seems to have really taken the critisim of the past 14 years of prequels to heart. In fact, one of his closing statements to his retirement was this...

Although I do hope for at least some kind of Lucas input on the upcoming films, the time has come to pass the torch. As a director and script-writer, retirement was probably for the best, but for the past six years, he has provided story ideas for the Clone Wars television series, proving that the man still has one hell of an imagination and love of story-telling, he just needs someone else to help tell the stories for him.

J.J. Abrams Responds to Leaked Star Wars Episode VII Pictures

By Dave Bouressa

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past week, the chances of you running into the recent leaked TMZ pictures from the set of Star Wars Episode VII are pretty high. The pictures do not show much aside from some extras in costume, a large pig-like animal, and a few buildings set in the Abu Dhabi landscape, which will be the filming location of Tatooine rather than the usual Tunisia setting.

However, one picture has shown up that has had the internet going ablaze, and that picture appears to be the partly constructed frame of the Millennium Falcon.

For obvious reasons, Lucasfilm, Bad Robot, and Abrams are not too pleased with the release of this information, and they are making it known. This picture was posted via the Bad Robot twitter page.

"I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII, and making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie. JJ"

Notice that the note stating the Falcon is not in the film is placed on the famous dejarik holo-board that is onboard the Falcon. It is nice to know that Abrams has a sense of humor about it, but the message has still gotten through that he is not happy. As someone who has been skeptical/worried/insanely excited for this film, I personally do not want to see any "leaked pictures" until after the first trailer has come out and we can make speculations.

Seeing every step takes away from the movie magic and constantly reminds us that this is a film made with actors and sets and props, and not a story that takes place a long time ago in that galaxy far, far away...
