Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons is Alfred in "Man of Steel" Sequel

By Dave Bouressa

Let me be the first to say....WHAT?!

Irons, I could see as Alred. I think the actor plays "sinister" a little better than he plays genuine warm-hearted butler, but I can see it. But Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor?!

Man of Steel director, Zack Snyder had this to say about the casting:

“Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940,” Snyder said. “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

“As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure,” Snyder said. “He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

Like I said, I could see Irons playing the role of Alred. It's a bit out of his usual casting choice, but as far as an old stuffy british man, Irons can pull it off. But I'm still believing that Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor is some kind of prank. Don't get me wrong, I think Eisenberg is a damn fine actor. But keep in mind, we're talking Lex Luthor here-the sworn enemy of Superman. This is the character that when they had to come up with an animated version of him and needed to find a voice, they cast Clancy Brown. Clancy "I've got the voice that reeks of evil genius" Brown!!!

At this point, we can do nothing but wait until we see the two of them up on screen. As of now, "Man of Steel 2" has been riddled with very odd casting and with nudging from Warner Brothers and DC, should result in an interesting film one way or the other. Only time will tell...

BBC Reveals Peter Capaldi's Official 12th Doctor Costume

By Dave Bouressa

Since Peter Capaldi was announced as the 12th Doctor in BBC's now 50-year-old Doctor Who, fans have been speculating what Capaldi's new outfit will be. With each new regeneration comes a brand new outfit, and in some cases, one regeneration will have two outfits (such as Colin Baker, David Tennant, and Matt Smith). But after months of speculation, the BBC has finally released Capaldi in full costume...

Overall, it could be worse. My first reaction was "Oh...That's not bad". Obviously, it's no suspenders and bowtie, but that was to be expected. The only real negative thing I could say about it is that it's...well, simple. They played it safe. It's as if they took Matt Smith's second costume and brought it down a few notches.

Here is what the cast and crew had to say about the Doctor's new look:

"He's woven the future from the cloth of the past," says Capaldi. "Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord."

"New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes," Moffat adds. "Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over - Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!"

"Peter Capaldi's Doctor is officially recorded in history today with the unveiling of his new costume," says Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One. "It's sharp, smart and stylish - The Twelfth Time Lord means business."

Doctor Who kicks off Series (Season) 8 in August 2014 on BBC One and BBC America

Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman, Has Signed a Three-Film Deal With Warner Bros.

By Dave Bouressa

According to a report from, Gal Gadot-who has been confirmed to be playing Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel film, has signed on with Warner Bros. for a three-film deal.

We're told Gadot will play the role in not only the upcoming Batman-Superman pic, but in a Justice League movie and a Wonder Woman standalone film.

Limiting the deal to three pictures makes sense for Warners since the studio still doesn't know how audiences will react to Wonder Woman in the unititled Batman-Superman movie. Since it's taken so long to find the right parts to make a Wonder Woman movie work, WB and DC don't want to rush int on a large commitment if fans are still drawn to a standalone movie featuring the character.

So this confirms a few things.

1) The Man of Steel sequel (or as been nicknamed, Batman Vs Superman) is NOT the Justice League film that many have speculated.

2) A Justice League film IS happening. Whether or not Man of Steel 2 is a direct prequel (aka, "Justice League Origins") to that is still to be determined.

3) We are almost-definetely-kind of-sort of-maybe getting a Wonder Woman standalone film. Much like WB and DC, I think they should have signed her to 2 films and a possible third. Warner Bros needs see how audiences react to her in MoS before assuming that she can carry her own film, and they are no stranger to that fact. Wonder Woman has always been a very difficult character for Warner Bros. to pull off outside of the animated universe, however, it can be done-as proven by this short film done by Rainfall Films.

However, considering DC's hesitation that certain characters aren't strong enough to carry their own film has been challenged by Marvel's confident decision with it's Ant Man film, who knows what tricks DC and Warner Bros will have to pull out of their sleeves to keep up.

After originally being scheduled for next Summer, it has been moved to the following year to avoid competition with major film titans such as Avengers 2, Star Wars Episode VII and many more.

Man of Steel 2 comes out May 6th, 2016.

Star Wars Episode VII Script is Completed, Shooting to Begin in May

By Dave Bouressa

After a tough battle between balancing writers and arguing a release date with Disney, J.J. Abrams has certainly had a tough time on his hands with the upcoming chapter in the Star Wars saga.

However, after many months of uncertainty amongst fans due to the very constraint schedule, Abrams has recently come out and confirmed that the script has been finished. And when asked about whether the filming of the film would be begin in England this May, Abrams had this to say...

"That's the current plan," "We have our script and we're full steam ahead. Have script, will travel."

"We can't talk about story yet," said the director, who plans to travel to England soon to begin work on the seventh film in the long-running saga. As far as casting, he had no details but said they will come "soon, and I look forward to that so that we can get past it and we can get on with it." -USAToday

It looks like Abrams is just ready to get this movie made and out, given the giant buzz about this film, with a new casting rumor every three days. Speaking of rumors, Abrams had this to say...

“There’ve been so many of them,” he said. “It’s amazing to see how many there are. … But it’s sweet because it shows that there’s an interest in this movie that we all obviously know is there. But it is an incredible thing to see how many crazy things get thrown out that people often then write commentaries about. How happy they are, how disappointed they are about something that is completely false. It’s a lot of noise, frankly.” - TheWrap

The way I see it, the man has alot on his plate, and with the pressure from Disney and fans, people just keep adding more to it. The man has just over a year to make a movie that would normally take over two years to create the biggest film of his live and will forever make or break his career as a director. Give the man a break.

Episode VII will come out, and if it's great, it's great. If it's terrible, it's terrible. Either way, just relax and enjoy the fact that we're getting a new Star Wars film that people didn't think was ever going to happen.

Star Wars Episode VII comes out December 18th, 2015

TRAILER: Game of Thrones Season 4

By Dave Bouressa

At last, the trailer for the fourth season of the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones is upon us!

Check it out!

According to actor Jerome Flynn, the fourth season will stray quite a bit from the books written by George R.R. Martin...

"Speaking at a special panel during the 2013 New York Comic Con, Flynn claimed that fans would be “quite surprised” by how different season 4 of the HBO show was from the books that inspired it. This was in reference to discussion of a fight scene in which Bronn engages in a battle concocted exclusively for the TV series.

Truthfully speaking, Game of Thornes has always taken liberties with its adaptation of the source material; hell, they even found a way to make the infamous "Red Wedding" even more gruesome and shocking than the books did.  And with other actors from the series claiming that season four will have even more death in it, one can only guess what showrunners D.B. Weiss, David Benioff and co. have in mind for big events like the "Purple Wedding" and the subsequent events that follow in this game-changing chapter of the Westeros saga."

How do you feel about Season 4 breaking off from its written counterpart?

Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 6th, at 9pm only on HBO

"Attack on Titan" Now Available on Netflix

By Dave Bouressa

Shingeki no Kyojin or better known to western audiences as Attack on Titan has swept up like a firestorm within the past year. After only a single season under it's belt, the critically acclaimed anime, based on the popular manga, has already picked up a massive  following at conventions and geek culture alike.

After becoming one of the biggest hits on Crunchyroll (which has been referred to as the "Netflix of Anime"), Attack on Titan has moved to the big leagues and is now available for instant streaming on Netflix.

"Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by Titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings, and worst of all, seem to do it for pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest Titans. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a Titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a Colossal Titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller Titans flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single Titan and take revenge for all of mankind."

If you haven't checked it out, do yourself a favor and check out the first episode. I guarantee you'll be hooked.

RUMOR: Denzel Washington to play Green Lantern/John Stewart in "Batman VS Superman"

By Dave Bouressa

As is known to happen every two weeks, the latest in internet casting rumors has stepped into the light, this time, casting Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, which although it has no official title at this time, has been referred to as "Batman VS Superman".

"BvM" has made it a point that this will be the "kick-off" point of getting the Justice League film off the ground. However, unlike Marvel who takes years to plan ahead, crafts each individual film to build into each other, and have a hell of a payoff, DC and Warner Bros has decided "Eh, screw it. Lets just introduce everybody in the same movie". "BvS" will have Superman (Obviously), Batman (Again, obviously), Wonder Woman, and there are rumors of Wally West (The Flash) and John Stewart (Green Lantern) appearing in the film as well, and the latest name being dropped for John Stewart is none other than Denzel Washington.

According to our source, the “Training Day” actor is being considered for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart instead.  If this proves to be true, Green Lantern will join an ever growing list of members from DC’s Justice League of America that also include Superman, Batman and Wonder Women.

As always, until Washington and/or his representatives confirm/deny this, it is nothing more than sheer rumor.  Personally, I would prefer that the role of John Stewart be played by someone who could remain more true to the animated version we all grew up on during the days of Justice League, such as Idris Elba-and not just because there are fanmade posters that completely sells me on the idea.

“Batman vs. Superman” opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.   The movie will be directed by  Zack Snyder and stars  Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and more to be announced in the coming days.
