SPOILER: The Eleventh Doctor Regenerates

By Dave Bouressa

After the joy of Christmas, there is no better way to end it than by crying yourself to sleep.

The time of the Eleventh Doctor has come to an end with the 2013 Christmas Special, "The Time of the Doctor", and with it comes in the new Doctor-Peter Capaldi. Ending his four-year run as the Doctor, Matt Smith gives one hell of a last performance and goes out in a bang-literally.

I'll give you a moment to say your goodbyes...

For those who have not seen the special, here is a basic recap. Spoilers.

The Eleventh Doctor is the "last" doctor. A Time Lord can only regenerate 12 times, resulting in 13 regenerations: Doctors 1-8 are normal, The War Doctor, Christoper Eccelston, David Tennant, and here's where the twist comes in: David Tennant regenerating into himself and zapping most of it back into his amputated hand, leaving number 11 as the 13th regeneration, leaving Matt Smith to die of old age.

The crack in the wall (aka the crack in the universe) is a doorway to Galifrey in another universe, and the Time Lords grant him an entirely new regeneration cycle.

So in short, we're getting at least 12 more regenerations, and Peter Capaldi is kicking it off strong with his first exclamation being that he doesn't like the color of his new kidneys. Not entirely strange considering the first thing David Tennant noticed was his "weird" new teeth, and Matt Smith excited at the fact that he simply had legs.

Will Capaldi be able to step into the shoes of Matt Smith? Only time will tell.

Doctor Who will return Autumn 2014.

'Sherlock' Meets 'Doctor Who'

By Dave Bouressa

The internet has officially exploded. Sherlock Holmes, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, has officially stepped foot into the TARDIS and faced the Doctor head on.

This seems like it is perhaps the greatest thing to come out of Moffat-ruled BBC, right? That is until you slowly start to realize that it's completely fake. Once the Doctor and Sherlock begin having a conversation with each other, you realize that they are saying lines that have previously been said in their respective show. Although the dialogue fits perfectly and is perfectly edited, any person familiar with either series will begin to recognize that lines are said in the exact same inflection, and the characters mouths begin to look digitized.

This INCREDIBLE mash-up video comes to us by John Smith, the youtube channel that brought us the incredible believable-but-very-not-real Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer.

(If in 3D, hover the mouse over the gear in the bottom right of the video, and turn off 3D)

As heartbreaking as it is to learn that this is in fact, fake, one can only hope that Steven Moffat decides to do a one-off video/episode pitting these two together. The BBC would literally implode on itself. But until then, be sure to keep an eye out for what this incredible youtube channel has to offer us in the future...

TRAILER: "The Time of the Doctor" Doctor Who Christmas Special

By Dave Bouressa

And know it's time for one last bow
Like all your other selves
Eleven's hour's over now
The clock is striking Twelve's...

It's that time of year again. Presents under the Christmas tree, decorations everywhere, snow on the ground, and Steven Moffat is killing the Doctor. Wait, what?

Since its revival in 2005, Doctor Who has made a tradition of having special Christmas episodes premiering on Christmas night, usually with big events happening in the episode-such as the title character's regeneration, and this Christmas is no different. This years Christmas episode, titled "The Time of the Doctor" will be Matt Smith's final role in the series, ending his 4-year run as the 11th Doctor. Check it the official trailer below:

As tragic is Smith's departure is, one must remember that as one door closes, another opens. Taking Smith's place will be Peter Capaldi, taking the role as the 12th Doctor, who made his "debut" in the 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor" alongside Matt Smith, David Tennant, and John Hurt.

For those curious about the episode and what will take place, episode spoilers have "leaked" and we were able to get ahold of them. Whether or not the spoilers are true or not will not be known until the episode comes out, but in case you want to open a Christmas gift early, here are the episode spoilers for "The Time of the Doctor".

UPDATE: Check out the latest extended trailer:

"The Time of the Doctor" will air Christmas night at 9pm on BBC and BBC America.

TRAILER: Godzilla

By Dave Bouressa

Move over Matthew Broderick, because after years of fans of the colossal lizard wanting to see Godzilla portrayed effectively on the big screen, it appears that time has finally happened with Gareth Edwards' 'Godzilla'.

Check out the trailer below:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. -4geekslikeyou

Finally, a Godzilla movie that only takes the effects and tone of modern day, but still gives homage to the original films by giving Godzilla his classic look, and not the look of a giant velociraptor. Coming off the heels of Del Torro's 'Pacific Rim', it will be interesting how audiences will react to seeing another giant monster movie-but this time, one so well-known.

'Godzilla' will open May 16th, 2014 in 2D and 3D formats.

Star Wars Heading to Netflix, Possible Cad Bane Series?

By Dave Bouressa

Until now, the only way to get ahold of Star Wars in viewing format was to either catch it on TV or own the VHS/DVD/Bluray, but after a recent deal between Marvel and Netflix, Disney is taking the next step by possibly incorporating Star Wars into the world of instant streaming.

According to a source close to production, a new 'Star Wars' TV series is currently being considered… and it could head straight to Netflix.
"I've been hearing some talk that the 'Star Wars' license will move onto Netflix properties as well as 'Star Wars Rebels'. The idea being tossed around right now is a series focusing on Cad Bane from 'The Clone Wars'. But this is very early talks."
"I've heard that it's entirely on its own," they said. It's just the one series but a number of other shows focussing on different characters is a very big possibility. 'Star Wars' has a ton of peripheral characters that could carry a TV series rather than a stand-alone film.

As far as original Clone Wars characters go, Cad Bane is certainly the staple of character developed for the series that could stand on his own (aside from Ahsoka Tano), but would be it be enough for an entire series?

Could this be the format that the "Bonus Content" of the Clone Wars series makes it's debut, or could this be something entirely different? Would you rather see new Disney Star Wars all over Netflix, or should Netflix focus on simply the films? Let us know in the comments.

Doctor Who "The Time of the Doctor" Christmas Episode SPOILERS

By Dave Bouressa

According to a report from Followingthenerd, The Sun newspaper has been releasing spoilers about the upcoming Christmas episode of Doctor Who, "The Time of the Doctor". This episode will mark the end of Matt Smith's run as the 11th Doctor, with the episode showing his regeneration into Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor.

Considering Mark Gatiss and Neil Gaiman have both tweeted for fans to not buy The Sun, it could mean one of two things. 1) They really do have the inside scoop, or 2) The BBC is making one hell of a publicity stunt.

We have the spoilers below, but know that these are definitely spoilers that will ruin the episode. As a last chance to change your mind, here is the teaser for "The Time of the Doctor".

Last chance to back out......GERONIMO!!!!

In the words of River Song, "Spoilers...."

The Doctor will lose a leg before regenerating: Apparently, while filming the episode Smith hurt his leg and it was written into the story. He will lose the limb to the Weeping Angels, if The Sun is to believed: ” The Doctor will lose his leg as he attempts to flee his collected enemies and hide in a clock tower – presumably the source of the ominous tolling bell that echoes across the universe. As he attempts his escape a Weeping Angel will grab hold of his leg, turning it to stone, which is a sure-fire way of losing any limb.
The 300-year Weeping Angel War: After losing his leg, the Doctor will embark on a 300-year war with the Weeping Angels – though where this fits with the regeneration is anyone’s guess – this war will also feature several of the Doctor’s classic enemies (presumably as hinted at in the teaser above). Also, most of the episode will take place in Christmas Town.
The story will feature the Daleks, Cybermen and Sontarans: Yes, there’s going to be a host of villains at Trenzalore to see the Doctor die… in fact, the rumour is the Doctor will challenge the Daleks to kill him. Also, the Cybermen will appear in both their metal and wooden incarnations.
Remember the time crack from Smith’s first season? That’ll be resolved: We will find out what the crack is – and apparently it was caused by the Time Lords in The Day of the Doctor, whether this means it’s because the Doctor undid his own history is unsure, but the Sun says they “range in size, and are caused by two points in time that should never touch coming into contact with each other.”
Apparently a massive crack will appear near the end of the episode and glimpses from the show’s long history will appear within it and a problem that has been a scourge of modern Doctor Who will be resolved by this. Hmmmmmm….
The Doctor will be granted more regenerations: The time lords will appear in the crack at the end and will thank the Doctor for all he has done (saving Gallifrey and Trenzalore) and will grant him a whole new set of regenerations. Finally, the regeneration to Peter Capaldi is said to be one of the finest scenes in the show’s history. -Followingthenerd

Merry Christmas.

"The Time of the Doctor" will premiere Christmas night at 9pm on BBC and BBC America.

TRAILER: Amazing Spiderman 2

By Dave Bouressa

The trailer for "The Amazing Spiderman 2" has officially hit the web (pun intended), and it seems to be rocking the internet with teases of what looks to be possibly the best Spiderman film to date. Check it out:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. - ComicBook Resources
"The Amazing Spiderman 2" hits theaters May 2nd, 2014.
