Ladies and Gentleman it brings me extreme joy in this time of uncertainty regarding the new Star Wars movie to announce that John Williams is expected to return and score the movie.
"Star Wars without John Williams sounds sacrilegious, and J.J. Abrams agrees." Celebrity Cafe "During a press conference for "Into Darkness", Mr. Abrams told the people he wouldn't mind having Williams step in for Giacchino, who usually scores his films."
Of course nothing is yet set in stone, but let me tell you, the fact that earlier in the year Williams said he wanted to score the new movie, and now that J.J Abrams is on board with it, we can expect at least one thing will be a constant, and at least that one thing will be the incredible music that John Williams never fails to bring to the screen.
As someone who avidly listens to the Star Wars soundtracks on some level everyday, and as a music major who pretty much thrives on music, this makes me so ecstatic. I now feel like there is something to look forward to for these new movies. Bring on the pitchforks and torches if you like, but even though I'm a huge Star Wars fan (and by huge I mean I would like to start a college and base all the classes on Star Wars and major in a subject revolving around Star Wars and then move to Korriban and become a Sith...), I am not as excited about these movies as maybe some of the other fans are. Again, that probably upset some of you, but because of all the rumors and the not knowing where they are going to go, you can't blame me for being skeptical.Anyways, now the only questions I have regarding the music are: Will they keep the main theme?, and What will all the new character themes sound like?
