There comes a time when maybe, just maybe, a line should be drawn. Especially when it is concerning one of the most beloved characters of the Star Wars Universe. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with a sunken heart that I announce the rumor/idea that the first stand-alone movie for Star Wars will be about Yoda.
This news comes to us from Harry Knowles of Aint It Cool News
Maybe it’s just me, my bias, and my love for the characters (sans Jar Jar Binks), but to try and make a movie about a character that not even George Lucas knows the home planet of is crazy! Lucas created him, and he did things and left out certain details for a reason. Yoda is a mysterious character. What could you possibly gain from this? Where could you go?

A while back, Kathleen Kennedy stated that Lucasfilm was planning on releasing multiple films per year. Whether or not those films were Star Wars related were not mentioned, however, given Disney's buyout of the Star Wars franchise, it is looking likely. This news has also brought back the rumor of Joe Johnston's "Boba Fett" movie. There was even a rumor about a Jabba the Hutt film.
No, there has been no other word about this movie, its production, or whether even Frank Oz would be involved. If there is any decency left in the Lucasfilm/Disney corporation, please, I’m begging you to forget about this travesty.
The "Yoda" part is still up in the air, but Disney's CEO, Bob Igner, confirms that several standalone films ARE, in fact, being made.
From Starwars.com :
One of the standalone films will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter of The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and co-writer of Return of the Jedi while the other will be penned by Simon Kinberg, writer of Sherlock Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The movies will be separate from the upcoming Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, on which Kasdan and Kinberg are also consulting, and are expected to be released sometime after Episode VII. Each standalone film will focus on a specific character, and two spinoff films are currently confirmed.
Could Disney be pulling an "Avengers"? Have seperate movies after Episode VII and then for Episodes VII and IX have them all come together? We'll just have to wait and see. But keep in mind, Disney owns Marvel....let that sink in for a bit.
